Knowledge

Science

This is the foldable, it points out all of the differences of the above topics.

This is only a few slides of our book, they look pretty neat.

When I was little, I always thought that on the inside of the body, was just the major organs. I had no idea about the circulatory system, or the nervous system, or the urinary system. And when I learned about this year, I looked back at when I thought I knew everything about the body, and was kind of concerned about by level of arrogance.

My claim is that, I have grown in my knowledge for the boy systems, and now know a lot more about it. I know how the systems work, and what they do.

We did a project to make a model of the body system. We had to include the circulatory system, and the digestive system, and the respiratory system. There was a lot of terminology that we had to incorporate. We did this really well in the power point. But when we attempted to do this in the poster, it was really hard to accomplish, so we decided half way through that we would make a power point book, because it would be easier. We had workdays in this class and my partner and me would research about the systems, and use that information to write about it in our power point book. Towards the end of the project, we started to make our images. We would print out pictures from the internet, and then we would trace them. After that we would then scan them in and insert them into power point. The final product was a power point book.

This is our body systems book. In it you will find out about the body systems, including the digestive system and the circulatory system. There are more systems in the book. The book has pictures that we traced. We did this because we aren’t good at drawing. We would then scan it in to make the images appear in the slide show. Next to that you will find our first draft of the poster. This doesn’t look very good, that is one of the reasons that we changed it. This poster does have the organs in it. Next to all of the organs, is descriptions on what they do and why. What we did to learn about this is watch a lot of videos and diagrams. We watched these a lot. They would be college level videos that explained it using a few words that we didn’t have to know.

The other artifact is this page from my book. This really helped me learn about the different veins and arteries. I used to think veins and arteries were the same thing. They are not. This page has a foldable on it. Under the flaps are definitions of each part on the page.

We also looked a dissected rat. We could see all of its insides and we learned what everything was and what it did. It was really gross, and smelled really bad (because of preservatives).

We also had class discussions. It these we would have everybody ask questions and have people answer them and we would discuss everything. This helped a lot, because I didn’t have to ask questions, which I dislike a lot, mainly because I don’t like to talk in front of people.

As a class, we also watched a lot of videos that visually described the inside of the body. I found theses a little hard to follow, because some of them used a lot of words that I didn’t yet know. We also looked at a lot of diagrams. I found these easier to look at, because they weren’t moving, and there wasn’t a voice in the background. I could just look at the diagram, and take all of the notes that I wanted to take.

My knowledge for the body is more defined. I know a lot more, and can explain a lot more. Say that my stomach is hurting pretty badly, now I know quite a few possibilities for answers for my question, “Why is my stomach hurting?” I can also understand what my mom is saying when she is talking about the digestive system. Sometimes she talks about the body, because she is a nurse. But I’m glad that I finally understand the body a lot more. I really like biology, and I want to know a lot more about the subject.
